Dt 16:16) Like the prophet Isaiah, Yehoshua points to God as the ultimate Ruler of coelestial movements. “And this shall be the sign unto thee from YHWH, that he will do this thing that He hath spoken: behold, I will cause the shadow of the dial, which is gone down on the sun-dial of Ahaz, to return backward ten degrees. So the sun returned ten degrees it was gone down.” Copernicus's prayer proves that he recanted the following teaching documented in his book: “In the center of all rests the Sun. For who would place this lamp of a very beautiful temple in another or better place than this from which it can illuminate everything at the same time? As a matter of fact, not unhappily do some call it the lantern, others, the mind, and still others, the Leader of the World. Trismegistus calls it ‘visible God’; Sophocles’ Electra, ‘that which gazes upon all things.’ And so the sun, as if resting on a kingly throne, governs the family of stars (like Zeu pater, Jupiter) which wheel around.” Galileo did not limit himself to attacking Aristotelian-Thomist philosophy. Leaving the terrain of science, he went further and entered the realm of theology as well. To harmonize them with the Copernican theory, he proposed to modify the traditional interpretation of various texts of Scripture that mentioned the movements of the sun and earth. Further, he proposed that Scripture sustained errors.

In a short passage in von Lauchen's Narratio (p. 465,12; 462,22,35) he refers to the sun not only as God’s steward of nature and king of all distinguished with divine Majesty, but also explains that the sun, like the heart in a body, guides the stars: like a ruler who does not need to go to various towns in order to execute his official duty, so the heart does not have to go to head, to feet, or to other part of the body in order to sustain life. This was a perennial mantra of all heliocentric astrologers throughout the ages. It is surprising how soon a want of care, or care wrongly directed, leads to the degeneration of a domestic race; but, excepting in the race of man himself, hardly anyone is so ignorant as to allow his worst animals to breed.” Darwin was one of the richest men in Great Britain and he wrote justification for the inhuman practices of his own caste. He was tried with the Nazi war criminals in Nuremberg. W. Judge in his Ocean of Theosopby (chapter 15) wrote: “In the year 1893 at Moscow Professor Virchow (who called Darwin's book the terrorists' manual) said in a lecture that the missing link was as far off as ever, as much a dream as ever, and that no real evidence was at hand to show man as coming from the animals.” The romanticization of a mass murder was made the centerpiece of this book. It is a license to kill where Thou shalt not kill, should be taught. In an interview for the German Spiegel Online published January 10, 2008 entitled The Bible Calls it a Sin Metropolitan Kyrill, (now the Patriarch of the Russian Orthodox Church) asked how he would approach Darwin's theories if he were a teacher, answered: “I would say that the theory has many adherents, but also a few unanswered questions. For instance, no one has provided precise proof of the transition from one species to another. It would be wrong to treat Darwin's theory as the only correct one. It is the leading theory today, but it could be replaced by another theory tomorrow. There was also a time when Marxism considered itself the only correct and scientifically justified theory...”

In January 1933, the Belgian mathematician and Catholic priest Georges Lemaitre traveled with Albert Einstein to California for a series of seminars. After the Belgian detailed his Big Bang theory, Einstein stood up applauded, and said, This is the most beautiful and satisfactory explanation of creation to which I have ever listened. Lemaitres theory, the idea that there was a burst of fireworks which marked the beginning of time and space on a day without yesterday, was a radical departure from prevailing scientific understandings, though it has since come to be the most probable explanation for the origin of the universe. (In other words, a Jesuit was behind the embarrassing doctrine of the "Big Bang" theory. -TR ) I was still a young professor of philosophy – just beginning to perceive the immense depth of the religions that I had till then dismissed - at that time the general view of the academic and scientific estabnlishment was that religion was a cultural relic well on its way to being marginalized in the advancing life of modern civilization. Religion, and the idea of God, as Freud had so confidently prophesied, were being replaced by scientific, purely huamnistic thought as an arbiter of values and truth. In conversation with V. I. The Philosophy behind the Einstein Equation

According to The New Roman catechism “fire” symbolizes the transforming energy of the Holy Spirit, the same fire which Jesus came to cast upon the earth and which came to rest upon the infant Church at Pentecost, the very same fire which Paul urged the Thessalonians not to extinguish (cp. the undying fire of the Vestal Virgins) – for it is none other than the Holy Spirit itself (# 696). In physical terms fire is the basic element that becomes all things. Reading Gospel of John 1:3 (“All things were made by it, i.e. Logos) keep in mind that from Anaxagoras through Aristotle, “nous” replaced “logos” as the motivating principle of the universe; nous was an immaterial (spiritual) power while logos was material. Apollo was called Eleleus because he orbited in a collected mass of fire. “There was a time, when the Eastern symbol of the Cross and Circle, the Swastica, was universally adopted. With the esoteric (and, for the matter of that, exoteric) Buddhist, the Chinaman and the Mongolian, it means "the 10,000 truths." These truths, they say, belong to the mysteries of the unseen Universe and primordial Cosmogony and Theogony. "Since Fohat crossed the Circle like two lines of flame (horizontally and vertically), the hosts of the Blessed Ones have never failed to send their representatives upon the planets they are made to watch over from the beginning." This is why the Swastica is always placed -- as the ansated Cross was in Egypt -- on the breasts of the defunct mystics. It is found on the heart of the images and statues of Buddha, in Tibet and Mongolia.” (Blavatsky, The Secfret Doctrine, vol. II, ch. 24, p. 579) The first principle alternately creates the world from itself and again itself from the world, and all things, Heraclitus says, are an exchange for fire and fire for all things, as good are for gold, and gold for goods.” (Plutarch, On the E at Delphi, 388DE). Heraclitus was an Einstein of antiquity; his equivalency of fire and things matches Einstein’s equivalency of energy (brahman, logos) and matter as expressed in his famous and deceiving equation E=mc². The phoenix-like character of matter reborn from its ashes was allegedly proved in atom smashers in which the energy released in its collision transforms itself into new subatomic particles. That explains why the former organ of the Soviet communists Pravda praises resurrection as the most scientific doctrine. Well, according to this perennial philosophy the most famous Soviet physicist worked out the hypothesis of Solar Phoenix, or strictly materialistic principle of the “spontaneous resurrection of energy (Brahma) such as takes place in the sun's core.” Heraclitus also invented an “atom smasher”; his sun was a bowl in the sky, its concave surface toward us. Fiery vapors from the earth gathered there and burned themselves out. The world on the upward way gives us summers and, winters are converse movements. This closed cycle contains the image of death and rebirth of vegetation like the famous parable of St. Paul: “When you plant a seed in the ground it does not sprout to life unless it dies” (1 Cor 15:36). Juvenal in his Satire XV ridicule similar Egyptian belief in these words: “At first he (i.e. god Sin) got to Egypt, and did sow gardens of gods (cp. Semiramis’ hanging gardens), which every year did grow.”

The Marriage of Philology and Mercury

This single encyclopedic work, De nuptiis Philologiae et Mercurii ("On the Marriage of Philology and Mercury"), sometimes called De septem disciplinis ("On the seven disciplines") or the Satyricon,[2] is an elaborate didactic allegory written in a mixture of prose and elaborately allusive verse, a prosimetrum in the manner of the Menippean satires of Varro. The style is wordy and involved, loaded with metaphor and bizarre expressions. The book was of great importance in defining the standard formula of academic learning from the Christianized Roman Empire of the fifth century until the Renaissance of the 12th century. The eighth book of M. Capella's De Nuptiis Philologiae et Mercurii describes a modified geocentric astronomical model, in which the Earth is at rest in the center of the universe and circled by the moon, the sun, three planets and the stars, while Mercury and Venus circle the Sun.[4] This view was singled out for praise by Copernicus in Book I of his De revolutionibus orbium coelestium. Dedicating the work to a powerful patron was also usual practice and Paul III, the pope to whom De revolutionibus was addressed, had previously been the recipient of the dedication in another astronomical work. In 1538, Girolamo Fracastoro had produced his own, rather less radical, reform of Ptolemy and seen fit to offer it to the same Pope The celestial marriage described by M. Capella inspired two best-known scientists of the Renaissance era: Girolamo Fracastoro (1478-1553) physician and poet, and N. Copernicus (1473-1543) also physician, poet and astrologer. In his long poem, Fracastoro argues that the infecting semina of syphilis may arise from poisonous emanations sparked by planetary conjunctions. He even invokes a linguistic parallel between transmission of syphilis by sexual contact (coitus) and the production of bad seeds by planetary overlap in the sky, for he describes the astronomical phenomenon with the same word, as “coitum et conventum syderum” (the coitus and conjunction of stars), particularly “nostra trium superiorum, Saturni, Iovis et Martis” (our three most distant bodies: Saturn, Jupiter, and Mars). In other words, Fracastoro was led in his speculations by the perennial astrological principle: “As Above, so Below”. And so was Copernicus. The expression “family of stars” suggests what Fracastoro described as “coitum et conventum syderum” and what follows logically polytheism! In one of the Thanksgiving Psalms from Qumran caves, God is addressed as “the Prince of the gods and the King of the venerable ones, and the Lord of every spirit, and the Master of every work.” This god whose rays the Essenes avoided to offend while defecating is the same sun god whom Copernicus describes as “sitting on the royal throne and reigning the surrounding family of stars.” E. Halley found the same astrological belief in Newton’s work. In his preface to the first edition of “Principia” he wrote some complimentary verses in Latin, ending in the line, “Nec fas est proprius mortali attingere divos” (t is not allowed to any mortal to come closer to the gods).

Islamic Defense of Biblical Geocentrism

Islamic astronomers did more than simply read Ptolemy. They provided astronomy with new mathematics. Their invention of algebra and trigonometry substantially changed the mathematical foundation of astronomy. They also questioned Ptolemy fundamentally. They created cosmological alternatives. However, they never questioned geocentricity. Islamic astronomers were well known in the Christian Middle Ages. Copernicus (1543) mentions some in his De Revolutionibus, e.g. Ibn Rushd, al-Battani, Al-Zarkali , Thabit ibn Qurra, and al-Bitruji (latinized Alpetragius, died 1204 in Spain). The fundamental criticism on the Almagest by al-Tusi and others may have been instrumental in the work of Copernicus. In 2006, a book Metahari Mengelilingi Bumi by Ahmad Sabiq bin Abdul Lathif Abu Yusuf was published in Indonesia which 'explains' that according to Islam, the right concept in astronomy is not the earth revolving about the sun (heliocentrism), but the sun revolving about the earth (geocentrism). This book was followed by many websites for support that geocentric concept. And so a movement against “the Scientific Miracles” in the Qur'an started and is growing day by day. At the beginning (Book 1, chapter 10), Copernicus had stated: “In the midst of all dwells the sun ...Sitting on the royal throne, he rules the family of planets which turn around him... But in Book III, when it comes to reconciling the doctrine with actual observation, the earth no longer turns around the sun, but round a point in space removed from the sun by a distance of about three times the sun diameter. Do the planets revolve round the sun – as every schoolboy believes that Copernicus taught? The planets move on epicycles, centered not not on the sun, but on the center of the earth's orbit. There are thus two royal thrones: the sun, and that imaginary point in space around which the earth moves. In the light of Philo's subsequent statement that the Temple was to be rededicated to Gaius, the new Zeus Epiphanes, Dr Smallwood thinks that the statue was to be of Gaius himself in the guise of Zeus.

A Unique Geocentric Clock of Prague

Thee clock constructed as early as 1410 by Miklush of Kadan is the symbol of John Hus’s Biblical revolution which regarded as the supreme head of the Church on earth not the Pope, but Jesus, the Defender of the Bible*. On the astronomical dial of Prague, the movement of the starry skies around the earth is shown by a smaller, eccentric ring that is marked with the signs of the constellations (the Latin term firmamentum used by Jerome in his Vulgate suggests the heliocentric immobility of the starry skies i.e. fixed stars). Fixed, in the middle of the face is the earth, including its meridians, parallels, and poles, with Prague at the center. On the face are also three circles representing the equator and the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn. The dial thus shows the relative positions of earth, moon, and stars throughout the year. Below the astronomical dial is the calendar disk, on which country scenes are painted to depict each month of the year. Every hour on hour from eight in the morning until eight at night, this amazing mechanism springs to life. At the end of WWII, Nazi forces tried to destroy the astronomical clock by setting fire to the Old Town Hall. Pope John Paul II tried to put this clock into oblivion by rehabilitating Galileo… * In a speech delivered Feb. 2, 1994 (See National Catholic Register, March 20, 1994) Card. J. Ratzinger stressed: “The Catechism thus connects the special mission of Jesus to His fidelity to the Torah; it sees in Him the servant of God who truly brings justice (Is 42:3)…This perfect fulfillment includes Jesus taking upon Himself the “curse of the Law” incurred by those who do not abide by the things written in the Book of the Law, and do them (Gal. 3:10). A Mahayana text entitled the Flower Ornament Scripture contains a lengthy discussion of infinite world systems and the limits of human knowledge. A section called The incalculable, provides a string of calculations of extremely high numbers, culminating in terms such as “the incalculable”, “the measureless”, “the boundless”, and “the incomparable”. The highest number is the “square untold” which is said to be the function of the “unspeakable” multiplied by itself. A friend told me that this number can be written as 1059. the Flower Ornament goes on to apply these mind boggling numbers to the universe systems; it suggests that if “untold” worlds are reduced to atoms and each atom contains “untold” worlds, still the numbers of world systems will not be exhausted.( His Holiness Dalai Lama The Universe in a Single Atom. Cutting a fig-branch that came to his hand, he shaped the phallus, and so performed his promise to the dead man. As a mystic memorial of this incident, phalloi are raised aloft in honor of Bacchus.

But Jesus answered to the Pharisees, “An evil and adulterous generation seeks for a sign; but no sign shall be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah” Mt 12: 38-39). The story of temptation of Christ on an “exeedingly High Mountian” (Mt 4:8) is a typical example of smuggling the perennial Roman heliocentrism into Christian lore. In Plutarch’s De Iside and Osiride we find a story that Akhenaten in his childhood had a dream: a god resembling the sun god Ra took him by his hand and from an exceeding high mountain showed him all the kingdoms of the world and then said to him: All these things will I give to you, if you restore my rule. In the Roman mythology we find also striking parallel to the story of temptation: Jupiter was led by Pan (the Devil) to the top of a mountain called the Pillar of Heaven whence he could see the countries of the world. The Afghan 'Crucifix' that defies Copernicus

A few lines from M. Capella’s Ode to the Sun found in his general compilation of scientific knowledge entitled The Marriage of Mercury and Philology (De nuptiis Philologiae et Mercuri) unveils the religion hidden behind the solar calendar:

Reinhold catalogued a large number of stars. His publications on astronomy include a commentary (1542, 1553) on Georg Purbach's Theoricae novae planetarum. Reinhold knew about Copernicus and his heliocentric ideas prior to the publication of De revolutionibis and made a favourable reference to him in his commentary on Purbach. However, Reinhold (like other astronomers before Kepler and Galileo) translated Copernicus' mathematical methods back into a geocentric system, rejecting heliocentric cosmology on physical and theological grounds.

Among the allegations the governor is denying are the Earth’s tilt, the whole of celestial mechanics, and that stars are not angels doing the waltz in the night sky.
It remains to be seen whether he will step down in light of these accusations.

Cicero writes: “ In the starry belt that the Greeks call the Zodiac, there is a certain force of such a nature that every part of that belt affects and changes the heavens in a different way, according to the stars that are in this or an adjoining locality at a given time.” These signs of the Zodiac, “Houses of the Sun”, were the 12 Constellations to which the most potent influence over destiny was ascribed. They are linked by artists not only with Time, Mother Earth, and the Seasons, but also with the traditional Olympian gods, by their appearance as a circular ring with Jupiter, Lord of All in their midst. On large bronze commemorative medallions of 2nd century emperors from Hadrian onwards, we see them as children disposed around Cicero globe beside Mother Earth, sometimes with the signs of the Zodiac displayed above; on the medallions of Commodus – under which such ideas especially flourished – they emerge from a circular frame held by Jupiter. In this sort of representation Jupiter is synonymous with Time, just as time is actually identified with a number of other gods such as the sun, and Serapis.

How the Bible Nixes Heliocentrism

A heliocentric diagram unearthed by Israeli archeologists showing a cross in a circles standing for the sun in the middle of the zodiac proves that Babylonian heliocentrism was also known to the inhabitants of Kanaan. Joshua's miracle expresses the gist of the of the anti-heliocentric lore contained in the Book of Genesis. To account for the light which turns nights into days for owls, flying squirrels, tarsiers and multitude of other night creatures, the biblical Secretary of God pointed to the relativity of the sunlight by describing the creation of light on the first day and that of the sun and the moon on the fourth. Bringing light into causal relationship with the sun, as all heliocentrists do, conforms to the receptive ability of the human eye, but it misses that LIGHT which in the “darkness” of night “leads” “all the beasts of the forest to their food” (Ps 104:20). In other words, there is nothing absolute or divine in the sun or its light, as ancient heliocentrists claimed and moreover the argument that the moon shines with the light borrowed from the sun stands and falls together with heliocentrism. The creation of the sun
and moon as “two great lights,” on the same day ,suggests their parity for life on earth. The Scripture speaks of the precious fruits put forth by the sun and moon (Dt.33:14) The precious things put forth by the moon refer to those plants that depend on moonlight, as some flowers do. Creatures like us who see only in visible light deduce that everyone in the entire Universe, including God, must see in visible light. The difference between black and white is not a matter of color, but of how much light they reflect. The terms are relative, not absolute. Black and white are fundamentally the same thing; the difference is only in the relative amounts of light reflected, not in their color. And besides, the cool of night which prepares dew for every blade of grass is as important for life in general, as heat of the day. The Biblical sun is no Creator. The Bible doesn't say: “In the beginning the Sun created the heaven and the earth.”
Let me remind here one of A. Hitler's boasts: “By the clever and continuous use of propaganda, a people can even be made to mistake heaven for hell, and vice versa.”
In ancient Babylonian astrological system, it is the sun god who is the ruler and main god of the zodiac. And all the gods of Heaven (the stars) were considered offspring of the sun. Who is the Supreme Deity? - Julius Caesar had been enrolled in the pantheon of Roman gods in 42 BC, and the comet, as described in Octavian’s memoires, was considered the soul of the divine Julius Caesar approving of his heir. Octavian took the title son of god (DF, on coins) and when he had secured the empire for himself in 27 BC took the title Augustus, effectively, “the Most High”! It was a divine title, and altars were set up to Augustus the God in some Roman provinces. The Title “The Most High” was borrowed from the cult of Jupiter OPTIMUS MAXIMUS THE SAME AS Ζεὺς, κύδιστος, μέγιστος, Zeus, Best and Greatest. The original Ζεὺς was Called by the Greeks the Son of Time, or SON OF THE SUN (Logos). The sun was regarded as the personification of the Supreme Deity. His beneficent influences caused his identification with the Principle of Good (so Plato)

The major feature of De revolutionibus is the frequent reference to classical authorities and the almost total lack of Christian ones. In Constantinople and Copernicus was recently reburied in a pompous ceremony attended by the high ranking hierarchs of the Polish Church. The evil A. Hitler perpetrated was born out of an anti-Christian world view.
Copernicus' religious creed quoted above sounds like a short paraphrase of M. Capella’s Ode to the Sun found in his general compilation of 'scientific' knowledge entitled The Marriage of Mercury and Philology (De nuptiis Philologiae et Mercuri). Copernicus; expression 'family of stars' was inspired by this marriage:

“The sun, in the middle of the movin g stars, himself at rest and yet the source of motion, carries the image of God the Father and Creator...He distributes his motive force through a medium which contains the moving bodies even as the father creates through the Holy Ghost.” ( J. Unlike Copernicus, Kepler saw in the sun, the sphere of the fixed stars and the planets an image of Christian Trinity and the wanderings of the sun described in Ps 18 (19) he interpreted as the wanderings of the Christ on earth undertaken for our sake. Newton’s identification of gravity with Jesus' 'spiritual body' tries to preserve at least the minimum of Christian tradition in the pagan lore.

Texts reveal that the pharaohs sought mystical union with Ra as the deepest fulfillment of our human divine nature. "Parabrahmam and Mulaprakriti" are One, in reality, yet two in the Universal conception of the manifested. There is no such thing as either "dead" or "blind" matter, PANTAREI! Newton’s Natural Philosophy matches what Varro in his Antiquities referred to as Natural Theology and that explains the puzzle of his identifying gravity with the spiritual body of Jesus Christ. Varro divided forty-one books of his Antiquities into ‘human matters’ and ‘divine matters’ and his treatment of ‘human matters’ before ‘divine matters’ was inspired by disputes of philosophers who derived their gods from fire (Heraclitus) or from number (Pythagoras) or from atoms (Epicurus). Varro’s materialistic philosophy is behind Paul’s teaching: “Howbeit, that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.” (1 Cor. 15:46).

Erasmus Reinhold(October 22, 1511 – February 19, 1553) was a German astronomer and mathematician, considered to be the most influential astronomical pedagogue of his generation. He was born and died in Saalfeld, Thuringia,Germany.
Reinhold catalogued a large number of stars. His publications on astronomy include a commentary (1542, 1553) on Georg Purbach's Theoricae novae planetarum. Reinhold knew about Copernicus and his heliocentric ideas prior to the publication of De revolutionibis and made a favourable reference to him in his commentary on Purbach. However, Reinhold (like other astronomers before Kepler and Galileo) translated Copernicus' mathematical methods back into a geocentric system, rejecting heliocentric cosmology on physical and theological grounds.

Capella's De Nuptiis Philologiae et Mercurii describes a modified geocentric model, in which the Earth is at rest in the center of the universe and circled by the moon, the sun, three planets and the stars, while Mercury and Venus circle the Sun.This view was singled out for praise by Copernicus in Book I of his De revolutionibus orbium coelestium.

It is not a circle, but is close to a 12-gon with rounded corners. It is locally convex in the sense that it has no loops and the curvature never changes sign. A Note on the Islamic Astronomers

Islamic astronomers did more than simply read Ptolemy. They provided astronomy with new mathematics. Their invention of algebra and trigonometry substantially changed the mathematical foundation of astronomy. They also questioned Ptolemy fundamentally. They created cosmological alternatives. But they never questioned geocentricity. However, philosophical heliocentrism of one Seleucus was smuggled into the Syrian version of the New Testament Peshitta. This heliocnetrism which went hand in hand with religion of the sun god Surya was brought to ancient Italy by Etruscans and was credited by Numa to Pythagoras. The early Christians were persecuted because they refused to bow to Sol Invictus the god of the Roman global religion, formerly known under his Syrian name Ilāh hag-Gabal and brought to Rome by his High Priest at Emesa, who became emperor Marc Aurelius Antoninus, aka Elagabal.

A temple called the Elagabalium (Cp. the Kaaba) was built on the east face of the Palatine Hill, to house the holy stone of the Emesa temple, a black conical meteorite. Herodian writes of that stone:
This stone is worshiped as though it were sent from heaven; on it there are some small projecting pieces and markings that are pointed out, which the people would like to believe are a rough picture of the sun, because this is how they see them.

Islamic astronomers were well known in the Christian Middle Ages. Copernicus (1543) mentions some in his De Revolutionibus, e.g. Ibn Rushd, al-Battani, Al-Zarkali , Thabit ibn Qurra, and al-Bitruji (latinized Alpetragius, died 1204 in Spain). The fundamental criticism on the Almagest by al-Tusi and others may have been instrumental in the work of Copernicus.

CHICAGO—It was announced today that the recently disgraced governor of Illinois Rod Blagojevich recently picked up a copy of On the Revolutions of Celestial Spheres, Nicolaus Copernicus’ watershed tome on the heliocentric nature of our solar system, and declared he “will fight this heliocentrism thing.”
Despite overwhelming evidence in support of Copernicus’ theory that the earth does in fact revolve around the sun, Blagojevich is insisting that it is the other way around.
“I’m not going to quit believing in an earth-centric universe because of modern science’s say-so.”
When asked by state Attorney General Lisa Madigan whether or not his conviction in the ancient view of the universe deemed him unfit to serve, the Illinois Supreme Court put aside the black tar heroin they were main-lining and said simply, “Nah.”
Among the allegations the governor is denying are the Earth’s tilt, the whole of celestial mechanics, and that stars are not angels doing the waltz in the night sky.
It remains to be seen whether he will step down in light of these accusations.
Unlike Galileo, Gov. Blagojevich had the courage to stand for his convictions.

Who is the Supreme Deity? - Julius Caesar had been enrolled in the pantheon of Roman gods in 42 BC, and the comet, as described in Octavian’s memoires, was considered the soul of the divine Julius Caesar approving of his heir. Octavian took the title son of god (DF, on coins) and when he had secured the empire for himself in 27 BC took the title Augustus, effectively, “the Most High”! It was a divine title, and altars were set up to Augustus the God in some Roman provinces. The major feature of De revolutionibus is the frequent reference to classical authorities and the almost total lack of Christian ones. Humanism was one of the dominant features of Copernicus’s intellectual life and so the use of the ancient sources was consistent with his education.Arguments that a modern thinker would describe as ‘scientific’ are rarer in De revolutionibus than might be expected.
Copernicus' religious creed quoted above sounds like a short paraphrase of M. Capella’s Ode to the Sun found in his general compilation of 'scientific' knowledge entitled The Marriage of Mercury and Philology (De nuptiis Philologiae et Mercuri). Copernicus; expression 'family of stars' was inspired by this marriage:

The Greek term for god Theos (Latin Deus) was used by Christian Gnostics for the monad and the term 'monad' meant that, Sanskrit Deva, which is the etymological root of the Latin Deus, is derived from the root div, to shine. "To know fire, the sun, the moon, and lightning, is three-fourths of the science of God.” In the above picture the word Deus has the same meaning as the Hindu 'Brahma' a neuter word denoting 'Energy'. The Sanskrit term 'jamad-agni' means 'the sage who knows the identity of fire (sun) and god.' IT is best described as neither Spirit nor matter, but both. "Parabrahmam and Mulaprakriti" are One, in reality, yet two in the Universal conception of the manifested. There is no such thing as either "dead" or "blind" matter, PANTAREI! The Hindu God is a material god like the material girl. The Spirit, beyond manifested Nature, is the fiery BREATH (neuma) in its absolute Unity. In the manifested Universe, it is the Central Spiritual Sun, the electric Fire of all Life.
Let me show you, for instance, how Michel White, the former director of scientific studies and a science lecturer at D’Overbroeck’s College, Oxford sanitized this passage: “In the midst of all dwells the sun,” Copernicus declared proudly in those clear and precise opening pages of his masterpiece. “Sitting on the royal throne, he rules the family of planets which turn around him…We thus find in this arrangement an admirable harmony of the world.”
In Egypt, the sun was called pouro which signifies at once 'the fire' (Greek pyr) and 'the king'. And that explains why Copernicus's sun god is seated on the royal throne. The name of the sun god Baal means 'Lord' and 'King'. Now take a look at the Pope with the symbol of “Baal” at the forefront of his mitre, which also symbolizes the Dagon god that had a temple at Gaza (Judges 16:21-30) and Ashdod (1 Samuel 5:3-7; 1 Chronicles 10:10). Newton’s Natural Philosophy matches what Varro in his Antiquities referred to as Natural Theology and that explains the puzzle of his identifying gravity with the spiritual body of Jesus Christ. Varro divided forty-one books of his Antiquities into ‘human matters’ and ‘divine matters’ and his treatment of ‘human matters’ before ‘divine matters’ was inspired by disputes of philosophers who derived their gods from fire (Heraclitus) or from number (Pythagoras) or from atoms (Epicurus). Varro’s materialistic philosophy is behind Paul’s teaching: “Howbeit, that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.” (1 Cor. 15:46).

Erasmus Reinhold(October 22, 1511 – February 19, 1553) was a German astronomer and mathematician, considered to be the most influential astronomical pedagogue of his generation. He was born and died in Saalfeld, Thuringia,Germany.
Reinhold catalogued a large number of stars. His publications on astronomy include a commentary (1542, 1553) on Georg Purbach's Theoricae novae planetarum. Reinhold knew about Copernicus and his heliocentric ideas prior to the publication of De revolutionibis and made a favourable reference to him in his commentary on Purbach. However, Reinhold (like other astronomers before Kepler and Galileo) translated Copernicus' mathematical methods back into a geocentric system, rejecting heliocentric cosmology on physical and theological grounds.

One can use Copernicus’s calculations to predict the positions of the heavenly bodies with about as much accuracy as one can expect from using Ptolemy’s.
Well, The eighth book of M. Capella's De Nuptiis Philologiae et Mercurii describes a modified geocentric model, in which the Earth is at rest in the center of the universe and circled by the moon, the sun, three planets and the stars, while Mercury and Venus circle the Sun.This view was singled out for praise by Copernicus in Book I of his De revolutionibus orbium coelestium.
And yet, the Encyclopedia Britannica (ed. 1974, vol V, p. 145)) assures us that: “In De revolutionibus the centres all lay at the centre of the sun. It is not a circle, but is close to a 12-gon with rounded corners. It is locally convex in the sense that it has no loops and the curvature never changes sign. (To be precise, it is more like a 13-gon, since we have to consider the sidereal month of 27.32 days instead of the synodic month of 29.54 days, and 365.25/27.32 = 13.37.)

Every hour on hour from eight in the morning until eight at night, this amazing mechanism springs to life. At the end of WWII, Nazi forces tried to destroy the astronomical clock by setting fire to the Old Town Hall. Pope John Paul II tried to put this clock into oblivion by rehabilitating Galileo…

A Note on the Islamic Astronomers

Islamic astronomers did more than simply read Ptolemy. They provided astronomy with new mathematics. Their invention of algebra and trigonometry substantially changed the mathematical foundation of astronomy. They also questioned Ptolemy fundamentally. They created cosmological alternatives. However, they never questioned geocentricity.

Islamic astronomers were well known in the Christian Middle Ages. Copernicus (1543) mentions some in his De Revolutionibus, e.g. Ibn Rushd, al-Battani, Al-Zarkali , Thabit ibn Qurra, and al-Bitruji (latinized Alpetragius, died 1204 in Spain). The fundamental criticism on the Almagest by al-Tusi and others may have been instrumental in the work of Copernicus.

In 2006, a book Metahari Mengelilingi Bumi by Ahmad Sabiq bin Abdul Lathif Abu Yusuf was published in Indonesia which 'explains' that according to Islam, the right concept in astronomy is not the earth revolving about the sun (heliocentrism), but the sun revolving about the earth (geocentrism). This book was followed by many websites for support that geocentric concept. And so a movement against “the Scientific Miracles” in the Qur'an started and is growing day by day.
